Birds of prey outdoor photography days

Your chance to photograph some of the beautiful birds of prey that reside here at Liberty’s Centre near Ringwood, in the New Forest, under outdoor natural light conditions without cages or wire in the way. On these days we showcase some of the resident birds at Liberty’s Centre both flying and static out in our flying field. These days are suitable for photographers of all levels and an experienced photographer is always on hand to help you out if you would like any assistance or advice.

The day starts at 9.30 AM with a quick safety talk after which the birds will be displayed for you with a mixture of static and flying birds throughout the morning. The morning session ends at 11.30 AM when you have time to talk about the morning, or go for a cup of coffee from our café before the public flying demonstration at 12 midday. After the public demo we have an hour break for lunch. At 1.30 PM there is another public demonstration with different bird species flown, followed by more birds for the group from 2 PM to 2.50PM. From 3 PM to around 3.30 PM there is another public flying demonstration, after which the day ends at around 3.30 PM.

Recommended camera equipment:  

For these days almost any camera will suffice as you are able to get quite close to the birds. As a recommendation we would suggest a DSLR or mirrorless system camera, or a high end bridge camera as being your best options.

For lenses we would recommend a 70 – 200 mm or higher zoom for maximum versatility although almost any standard lens will enable you to get photos of the birds.
